Pyar Impossible Songs Review

Well, trust Uday Chopra to give his best while trying to save his ‘down-in-the-dumps’ career. After a string of forgettable performances barring successful Dhoom capers, he has tried turning to production along with acting in ‘Pyar Impossible.’ The Yash Raj Banner’s movie has been directed by ‘once upon an actor….Jugal Hansraj’. In the movie, Uday is playing the role of a quintessential geek in love with the hottest girl ever.

Uday Chopra has also written the script of the movie which is basically a tried and tested plot. Music has been composed by current hot favorite, Salim-Sulaiman. Songs of Pyar Impossible are well, melodic, pop, spunky and what not yet very much inspired from western numbers.

The album begins with ‘Alisha’ rendered by Anushka Manchanda in her husky voice. A fun song, this one is. Next one is the title song, ‘Pyar impossible’ sung wonderfully by duo of Vishal Dadlani and Dominique Cerejo. Salim-Sulaiman have created nice and easy arrangement for the song. However, song seems inspired from the ‘Six Pence None The Richer’s hit single, Kiss me’.

Neha Bhasin and Benny Dayal have crooned together ‘You and Me’. The song is more like a hurried mixture of R& B and rap and fails to excite listeners. Up next is ‘Ten on Ten’ by Mahua Kamat, Anushka Manchanda and Naresh Kamath. Just another run of the mill stuff.

‘Ek thi ladki’ is all about storyline of the movie. More of a Barbie and bubblegum kind of song with all the overbearing cheers of the chorus. To sum up, the album may score some hits in college campus otherwise, just slightly ‘impossible’ to receive ‘pyar’ from the audiences.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani – Music Review

It has been quite some time, since the movie “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” (APKGK) was released. Movie proved to be a big hit but the bigger hit was its music. Penned by lyricist Irshad Kamil and sung by a bunch of talented singers like KK, Alisha Chinoy, Atif Aslam, Javed Ali, Kailash Kher, Neeraj Shridhar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur, Soham, Rana Mazumdar, Ashish Pandit and Suzzane D Mello, songs of the movie are still topping the charts. ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif whereas music has been composed by hit music director Pritam Chakraborty. The music of the movie has been hailed as contemporary, energetic and pleasing.

Song, ‘Aa jao meri tamanna’ is a wonderful song sung by Javed Ali. It’s a breezy song and belongs to the romantic genre. Sweet song that you would like to hum. Album also contains remixed version of the same song which is faster in pace.

As is the norm, album has a hip-hop number ‘Follow me’ crooned by popular hip-hop artist Hard Kaur. She has sure made a name for herself in rap genre and here again she has excelled. A perfect song for youth brigade and discotheques. KK, Hard Kaur and Sunidhi Chauhan have rendered their voices to the next song, ‘Main tera dhadkan teri’, which is basically an energetic track. There is also a remixed version of the number but original is much better.

The pick of the album is ‘Tu Jaane Na’ crooned by talented Pak singer Atif Aslam. It is a soft song that will instantly strike a chord with you. Truly a soothing and beautiful love ballad. This song has three more versions and all of them are good enough.

Atif Aslam and Alisha Chinoy have sung together ‘Tera hone laga hoon’ and the song has continued its stay on the top. Other songs of the album are ‘Oh my god’ sung by Mika Singh and Sunidhi and ‘Prem ki naiyya’ rendered by Neeraj Shridhar and Suzzane D’mello. All in all, the music of the album is a must for any music lover.

Southie remakes

The super hit music of Ek Duje ke liye with its octaves and the magic of Lata Mangeshkar has justified the remake movies by itself. The music down south is much about melody and modern musicians have a sincere flair for their fusion composition. As rightly said, fine arts is simply open to blending, the musicians have also tried to create magic in the Hindi film industry.

The problem faced in this kind of musical translation is the lyrics. The original score must have been a super hit in the regional towns but creating the same magic in Hindi music is quite a challenge for the musicians. Owing to paucity of time and strict time lines the lyrics are verbatim translated and the regional slang are retained. This causes a problem of acceptance and yet the musical score becomes popular. Proving the love for music, fans loyally enjoy the remake music.

The song of Bombay, humma humma was a super duper hit and the audience is able to relate to it even now. The type of lyrics, the picturization, bold tunes have made it possible to create a bigger room for experimental music. Adaptation is an art and stalwarts like Illyaraja with the song judi judi from Paa have proved that music has no fixation. Music seems to travel across geography and people willingly accept soulful music.

The rendition of the songs in Roja has the typical accent in Tamil sung by popular signers down south. The music is and was popular during the hit times of the movie. Rewinding old songs gives us a glimpse of many songs in the past starring Tamil superstars like Gemini Ganesan or Padmini. It is also true that Hindi music or tune was registered in many songs down south during those days.

While remaking South Indian movies in Hindi, the dubbing is not looked clearly as a result the audience is unable to express their appreciation. This is more pronounced in songs which featured pulsating dance numbers. All said and done the regional exchange is sure to promise more chart busters with musicians refining and perfecting the merge in music, lyrics and sound recording.

Paa music review

Paa’s music is running on top of the chartbuster list. Based on genetic disorder called Progeria, Paa must sure have been a challenging project for director R. Balki who is just one film old.

The music of the film is given by one of the top composer’s of the country Ilayaraja who has composed music for more than 900 films. The lyrics are penned by poet Swanand Kirkire.

The album’s first song, Mudhi Mudhi Ittefaq Se is quite a melodious one and my favrouite as well. The song is sung by Shilpa Rao and she has modulated her voice in the song so beautifully. This is a three minute musical piece and listening to this track will sure transport you to a different world.

After a melodious Mudhi Mudhi, you will hear Halke Se Bole which is yet again a soothing song that reminds you of your childhood. The lyrics of this song are particularly impressive. The next song on the list is Hichki Hichki which is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. This one too is a pleasant melody.

After this, you will now hear the male version of the song Mudhi Mudhi which is Gali Mudhi. The song is sung by Shaan and in my opinion this is one of Shaan’s best works. This song carries the emotional theme of the album and is a typical Ilayaraja song.

And the best of the album is Mere Paa which is sung by none other than Amitabh Bachchan. In this song Amitabh croons his voice to sing like a 13 year old to praise his mother. Paa theme song is also one song that touches your heart. In short the album of Paa is one that is rich, soothing melodious and refreshing.

Hits of Himesh Reshammiya

The name ‘Himesh Reshammiya’ definitely attracts numerous reactions. In last 3-4 years, if there is one person who has given us maximum number of hits then it must Himesh. Whether as a singer or as a composer, he kept churning one hit after another. I don’t think, during his first two years when he launched himself as a singer, any other singer has that many hits in a row and that is no man achievement. There have been some question marks over his different style of singing that comes from him having the nasal twang, but one must give credit to the person who was immensely successful. Even as a music composer, Himesh Reshammiya gave us hits like Tere Naam, Kyun Ki and many more. De Dana Dan music review

Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif have been successful in giving good musical numbers so far and De Dana Dan is the new one to that list. No brownie points for guessing who the music director of this film is? Yes, it’s Pritam. Pritam has delivered so many musical hits in the recent times that it almost feels unbelievable. De Dana Dan songs are also doing the chartbuster rounds for the past three weeks.

De Dana Dan album gives you six original tracks and six remix tracks. One of the top favorite in this album is Rishte Naate which is sung in the voice of Rahat Fatah Ali Khan. Soothing to the ears, Rishte Nate is a song that you will keep humming once that you have heard. This is a song whose melody stays with you. However, I particularly do not like the remix which is crooned by Kunal Ganjawala because it lacks the melody that the original one has.

Another song that has been a huge hit amongst the crowd is RDB ft Pritam’s Paisa Paisa which is a typical Akshay Kumar song. This is because the song reminds of Singh is King and Namaste London songs. In short, it is a typical Punjabi Bollywood track with some inspiration from Usher’s song ‘Yeah’. I also like the title track De Dana Dan which is full of energy. It charges you up. Sung by new group Ad boys, the song is already a big hit. The song Baamulaiza is Bollywood salsa number which is groovy and peppy. Don’t quite like the remix version though.

For the song Hotty Naughty, Pritam has picked the tune of the popular Haryanavi song Hat Ja Tau Pacche Ne. Quite an average one. The songs of ‘De Dana Dan’ are nice but they come with an expiry because these songs are not quite evergreen that you will hum them for a long time.

Best songs of 2009

We have almost come to an end of 2009 and here are some of the hit songs of the year. The first on the list is Dhan Te Nan from the movie Kaminey. The peppy energetic track swayed the crowd with its music and the lyrics as well. Next up on the list is all the songs from the movie Love Aaj Kal – be it Aahun Aahun, Mere Dil ka or Twist, audience loved all the tracks from this movie.

2009 also had some really cool numbers from the movie Wake up Sid which was directed by debutant Ayaan Mukerji. The lyrics of all the songs from this movie were really mesmerizing. Songs like Iktara and Aaj Kal are melodious and touches ones heart. Shankar Ehsaan and Loy created magic with the songs of this film. However, they failed to recreate the same magic for the film London Dreams whose music was quite weak.

Emraan Hashmi is one actor whose almost all songs have been a hit. And this continued with Tum Mile as well. The title track is so amazing. Even the song Dil Ibadat was loved by the audience. Music composer Pritam did a great job with the songs of this film.

Ajab prem Ki Ghazab Kahani also had some really soothing tracks. Kaise Batayein sung by Atif Aslam and Kailash Kher sends musical vibes to the heart.

Even though the film did not do quite well, the songs from the movie Kurbaan were loved by all. Shukran Allah and Ali Maula are my favorites. The music for this is given by Salim Sulaiman and the lyrics are penned by Irfan Siddiqui.

Also films like Paa and De Dhana Dan are releasing soon. The music for these films has already released and they are already added in the list of the best songs of 2009.

Romantic songs

There is nothing anywhere in the world like Hindi cinema. It is unique inimitable brand of cinema that at which has characters that break into song, dance laughter just as easily as they weep, laugh and express all their emotions! Romantic songs always take you in a dreamy world especially with the soothing tunes and the lovely lyrics that mingle so beautifully. For the past so many years, Hindi film songs have created and built notions and ideologies of romance across the country and even world. Right from Pyaar hua ekraar hua to kabhi kabhi aditi from jaane tu…hindi film songs have left no stone unturned in giving visuals and words to our imagination and to our romance. Songs like tera mera pyaar amar, aasman ke neeche hum aaj apne peeche, dekha ek khwab toh yeh silsile hue, hotoh se chulo tum, pal pal dil ke paas, chaudvi ka chand, pehla nasha, tu hi re, tere liye humhain jeeye and so many more songs have swayed us with their music. Romance and love have been the central theme of most films in Indian cinema. The frequent use of poetic Urdu words is fairly common in Hindi songs and this is what makes the lyrics of these songs so beautiful that you want to listen to it and hum them. Some of the uncommon yet very romantic songs have been beheka hai mann kahin from the film Chameli, Madhhosh dil ki dhadkan from the film Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai, bolo toh from the film Shabd, and recently tere naina from the movie Chandni Chowk to China. Romantic songs list is endless but it depends from individual to individual which songs are the ones that evoke feelings in them.

Do you remember song ‘Saare Sapne’ by Asha Bhosle? Well, you can’t really ignore the song because of its appeal. It was a deadly mix of love, separation and reunion. What more you could ask for? Its wonderful songs still run in my mind. Such was the appeal of this song. One song that got relatively lost because of poor response to the movie ‘Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye’ was ‘Pathron ke bane’. Very few people got a chance to hear this song. But I would ask you to give it a chance, at least once. If for nothing, then just hear it for his lyrics. It’s very inspiring and somehow gives you the belief that nothing is impossible in life. To substantiate my point, I will write few lines from the lyrics;

Koi to samjhaaye in logon ko jo aksar apne halat pe rote hain…

Chaaron taraf deewarein hain…to hone do

Recently relapsed movie New York managed to earn good review and revenue because of its plot and songs. Two songs of the movie that are very contrasting in nature, ‘Hain Junoon’ and ‘Mere Sang’ made listeners sit and notice. The first song is a typical party song with fun being the basic element of the song and KK has simply been amazing in the song. Song is kind of nostalgic because it will remind you of your college days and fun you had. Mere Sang is very soothing and it has beautiful composition.

‘Tujh mein rab dikhta hai’ from the movie Rab ne bana di Jodi was beautifully sung by Roop Kumar Rathod. The song is quite straight from the heart stuff and everything about it is so very Indian. A very romantic song, it became quite popular. Lastly, Lambi Judai from the movie ‘jannat’ proved to be quite popular and it grows slowly on you. A must have in your recent collection.

Hit Sufi Songs

Many of you must be huge fans of Sufi songs. Such songs have unique appeal about them. Sufi songs are mystical and soothe your heart. They are very passionate. Whether it is a romantic song or sad sufi song, you cannot help but notice them and get totally lost in them. As far as origin is concerned the word ‘Sufi’ is derived from the Arabic word ’suf’ which means wool. Initially, Sufi songs were sung to celebrate love for God.
