Sweet Shahrukh songs

There may be many things said about our very own SRK but the fact remains that he is the ultimate romantic hero of the modern times of Hindi Cinema. His movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Dil toh Pagal Hai, Chalte Chalte, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Asoka, Paheli, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Rab ne Bana di Jodi have been the biggest hits of their times and their songs have reached the epitome of love songs.

Songs like Tujhe dekha toh yeh jana sanam and Dil toh pagal hai drove the Indian audience crazy with its heart-warming lyrics and melodious music. Add to that SRK’s charm, his twinkling eyes and a million dollar smile, felt like the entire nation enjoyed his romance. I also love Roshni Se Bhare Bhare from Asoka. Shahrukh and Kareena made the song look quite beautiful. Songs like Tauba Tumhare Yeh Ishare, Pyar humko bhi hai and Ghum Shuda from Chalte Chalte were also popular.

Remember the movie Kuch Kuch hota hai – the crowd went berserk with its music and audience loved the eternal chemistry between Kajol and Shahrukh. Songs like Ladki badi anjani hai, kuch kuch hota hai and koi mil gaya were smashing hits of the 90s.

Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Naa songs also created magic with Shahrukh dancing on the screen especially in the tumse milke dil ka hai jo haal kya kahen with Sushmita Sen. It was choreographed beautifully and the song pumped in energy into the viewers.

Even Rab ne bana di Jodi songs like Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, Haule Haule , Dance Pe Chance and Phir Milenge Chalte Chlate were super hit Shahrukh tracks. And now we await My name is khan whose songs are also appreciated – afterall its SRK and his magical aura that spell bounds the audience.

Veer Music Review

A lot is being talked about Salman Khan’s forthcoming epic film Veer. All of us are seeing the promos, listening to the songs and awaiting its release. Most of them have loved the music of Veer. Composer brothers Sajid Wajid have composed all the songs of this movie and Gulzar has penned the beautiful lyrics. The first song of the film is Taali Maar Hathi Veera which is sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Sonu Niigaam, Wajid and Neuman Pinto. The song is power packed and charges you up with its foot tapping music. Also, it gives so much positivity in the beginning of the movie itself that it makes the viewer energized. After this, is a song that has become a favorite amongst the crowd and this is sung by none other than Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Surili Ankhionwale is a track that is not just melodious but is quite a humming one as well. It also has an extended version that is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. She sings this one in a way which is unlike her original style.

The next one is a number that is running in the promos across television channels. This is Salaam Aaya, a romantic number sung by Roop Kumar Rathod, Shreya Ghoshal and Suzanne D’Mello. The best part about this song is it reminds you of the music of the 70s and the 80s. Its pleasing tunes soothes ones ears. Next in line is Sonu Niigaam’s Meherbaniyaan. The song begins with a nice orchestra piece but as it progresses it becomes quite an ordinary track.

Then there is a song that many have not heard which is titled Kanha. It is a thumri sung sung by Rekha Bhardwaj and ample support from Shahab, Toshi and Sharib Sabri. This is a great track that makes the album a must hear. You also have an instrumental piece in the album called the Spirit of Veer. On the whole, the music of Veer is nice and soothing to the ears.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani – Music Review

It has been quite some time, since the movie “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” (APKGK) was released. Movie proved to be a big hit but the bigger hit was its music. Penned by lyricist Irshad Kamil and sung by a bunch of talented singers like KK, Alisha Chinoy, Atif Aslam, Javed Ali, Kailash Kher, Neeraj Shridhar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur, Soham, Rana Mazumdar, Ashish Pandit and Suzzane D Mello, songs of the movie are still topping the charts. ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif whereas music has been composed by hit music director Pritam Chakraborty. The music of the movie has been hailed as contemporary, energetic and pleasing.

Song, ‘Aa jao meri tamanna’ is a wonderful song sung by Javed Ali. It’s a breezy song and belongs to the romantic genre. Sweet song that you would like to hum. Album also contains remixed version of the same song which is faster in pace.

As is the norm, album has a hip-hop number ‘Follow me’ crooned by popular hip-hop artist Hard Kaur. She has sure made a name for herself in rap genre and here again she has excelled. A perfect song for youth brigade and discotheques. KK, Hard Kaur and Sunidhi Chauhan have rendered their voices to the next song, ‘Main tera dhadkan teri’, which is basically an energetic track. There is also a remixed version of the number but original is much better.

The pick of the album is ‘Tu Jaane Na’ crooned by talented Pak singer Atif Aslam. It is a soft song that will instantly strike a chord with you. Truly a soothing and beautiful love ballad. This song has three more versions and all of them are good enough.

Atif Aslam and Alisha Chinoy have sung together ‘Tera hone laga hoon’ and the song has continued its stay on the top. Other songs of the album are ‘Oh my god’ sung by Mika Singh and Sunidhi and ‘Prem ki naiyya’ rendered by Neeraj Shridhar and Suzzane D’mello. All in all, the music of the album is a must for any music lover.

Southie remakes

The super hit music of Ek Duje ke liye with its octaves and the magic of Lata Mangeshkar has justified the remake movies by itself. The music down south is much about melody and modern musicians have a sincere flair for their fusion composition. As rightly said, fine arts is simply open to blending, the musicians have also tried to create magic in the Hindi film industry.

 

The problem faced in this kind of musical translation is the lyrics. The original score must have been a super hit in the regional towns but creating the same magic in Hindi music is quite a challenge for the musicians. Owing to paucity of time and strict time lines the lyrics are verbatim translated and the regional slang are retained. This causes a problem of acceptance and yet the musical score becomes popular. Proving the love for music, fans loyally enjoy the remake music.

 The song of Bombay, humma humma was a super duper hit and the audience is able to relate to it even now. The type of lyrics, the picturization, bold tunes have made it possible to create a bigger room for experimental music. Adaptation is an art and stalwarts like Illyaraja with the song judi judi from Paa have proved that music has no fixation. Music seems to travel across geography and people willingly accept soulful music.

 The rendition of the songs in Roja has the typical accent in Tamil sung by popular signers down south. The music is and was popular during the hit times of the movie. Rewinding old songs gives us a glimpse of many songs in the past starring Tamil superstars like Gemini Ganesan or Padmini. It is also true that Hindi music or tune was registered in many songs down south during those days.

 While remaking South Indian movies in Hindi, the dubbing is not looked clearly as a result the audience is unable to express their appreciation. This is more pronounced in songs which featured pulsating dance numbers. All said and done the regional exchange is sure to promise more chart busters with musicians refining and perfecting the merge in music, lyrics and sound recording.
